InSight HP3 probe being tested. InSight's heat probe (the Heat and Physical Properties Package, HP3) being tested in Germany, before InSight's launch in May 2018. NASA's InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander was launched on 5 May 2018. It arrived safely on the Martian surface on 26 November 2018, landing in the Elysium Planitia region. The InSight lander is designed to study the interior of Mars. It will investigate the processes that formed and shaped Mars and its findings will improve our understanding of the evolution of the inner solar system's rocky planets. | |
