CMS beampipe removal in Long Shutdown 2 (LS2) at CERN. The CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector is installed at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva, Switzerland. The particle beams collided here create new particles that are detected by equipment such as the CMS. LS2 is a 2-year shutdown ahead of a new LHC run in 2021. Photographed on 21 January 2019. | |
