Orbits of stars around Milky Way's central black hole. Simulation of stars orbiting very close to the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way. The position of the supermassive black hole is at centre. Analysis of data from ESO's Very Large Telescope and other telescopes suggests that the orbits of these stars may show subtle effects predicted by Einstein's Theory of General Relativity. The orbit of one of the stars (called S2) is deviating slightly from the path calculated using classical physics, thus providing a further proof of Einstein's Theory of General Relativity.
