Stroke and brain damage. Axial computed tomography (CT) scan through the brain of a 70-year-old man who has had a cerebravascular accident (CVA, stroke). The resulting mass of blood and brain damage (orange) is at left in the brain's right hemisphere. The mass of blood is affecting the brain's ventricles. This is classified as a haemorrhagic stroke. It has caused paralysis (hemiplegia) of the patient's left side. This stroke occurred 15 days previously. | |
