Guanajuato mummies. These naturally mummified body were buried, along with many others, during a cholera outbreak in Guanajuato, Mexico, in 1833. Many of them were disinterred between 1865 and 1958 due to lack of cemetery space, and stored above ground. After starting to attract paying visitors in the early 1900s, the location was turned into a museum called El Museo De Las Momias (The Mummies' Museum). | |
