Pelvic fracture. Coloured x-ray of the pelvis of a 23-year-old patient with multiple pelvic fractures caused by a road accident. The patient has fractures to their right and left ischiopubic rami (lower half of image), and there is evidence of bone fragmentation and displacement. The ischiopubic ramus on each side of the pelvis is a compound structure which joins the pubis and the ischium pelvic bones. This is a frontal x-ray of the pelvis as the patient is lying down under an immobilisation shell (used to prevent movement of the pelvic region). | |
