Five F-1 rocket engines at the base of the first stage of the flight model Saturn V rocket in the Apollo/Saturn V Center at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, USA. The Saturn V was the launch vehicle for NASA's Apollo programme of manned missions to the Moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was one of the most powerful rockets ever built. The F-1 engines burnt kerosene as a fuel and liquid oxygen as an oxidiser. | |
