The interior of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, viewed from floor level towards one of the large translucent panel windows (which appear white from outside). This is the main transfer aisle of the VAB, which was built in the 1960s to house and assemble the Saturn V Moon rockets and, later, the Space Shuttle fleet and Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. This large space allows the transfer of individual stages and other components from the floor to higher levels during vehicle integration and the subsequent transfer of rockets on their launch platforms out to the launch pads. | |
