Prehistoric turtle (Algorachelus peregrinus) and sauropod dinosaurs, illustration. This turtle dates from the Upper Cretaceous of Africa (around 95 million years ago), when the area was part of the supercontinent of Gondwana. This turtle adapted from freshwater to marine environments, migrating to what is now Spain and Portugal in southern Europe. It went extinct around 65 million years ago. | |
