Exoplanet SWEEPS-10, illustration. This exoplanet orbits so close to its star that it completes an orbit in 10.5 hours hence it is classed as an USPP (ultra short period planet). The planet is only 1.2 million kilometres from the star, or 1/130th the distance between Earth and the Sun. It is thought to be the hottest exoplanet yet discovered. The star (unnamed) is located 22, 000 light years from Earth near the centre of the galactic bulge in the Milky Way. | |
