George Lanchester. Together with his brothers he formed the Lanchester Engine Company, which became the Lanchester Motor Company in 1905. Lanchester was the first British motor manufacturer to export left-hand drive cars, with overseas customers including Henry Ford and a number of Indian Maharajahs. The company was taken over by the BSA/Daimler group in 1933, and production of Lanchesters was reduced, the last car being built in 1955. | |
