Preparing a diluted solution, 3 of 6. This series shows a sequence of diluting a solution of potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) from 0.25M to 0.025M. A pipette is used to draw 5 mL of 0.25M potassium dichromate solution from a 50 mL beaker (Photos 1 and 2). The solution is then transferred to an empty 50 mL beaker (Photos 3 and 4). Water is then added (Photo 5) to bring the total volume to 50 mL (Photo 6). The resulting concentration is 0.025M. | |
