Scanning electron micrograph of a mucor fungus, a microbial genus of approximately six species of moulds commonly found in soil, digestive systems, plant surfaces, rotten vegetable matter and iron oxide residue in the biosorption process. The cells form the shape of very fine threads topped with ball-shaped clusters of spores. Colonies of this fungus are typically white to beige or grey and are fast-growing.
