Acinar cell glands are composed of digestive enzyme synthesizing cells that show dark cytoplasm at the base and fine granular reddish (enzyme) portion at the luminal side. Depending on the cut section, various number of centroacinar cells, presenting light-eosinophilic cytoplasm and typically round or oval hypochromatic nuclei, can be visualized in the centre of acinar cell glands (arrows), forming the beginning (head) of pancreatic ductal system (d).
