In type 1 diabetes, the pancreatic beta cells produce little or no insulin. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and teens. About 5-10% of people with diabetes have type 1. Gestational diabetes is unlikely to be dangerous for the mother but may harm the unborn child, so it's important to monitor and treat it. About 4% of all pregnant women in the US develop gestational diabetes. | |
