Pecopteris is a now extinct genus of ferns that lived from the late Devonian and thrived in the Carboniferous period. They were flowerless and seedless vascular plants having true roots from a rhizome and fronds that uncurl upward. Closely arranged leaflets standing out perpendicularly or near perpendicularly on the vein, thus resembling a comb, characterize Pecopteris. Specimen is from Stephanien deposits near Leon, Spain. | |
