The Eurasian wolf (Canis lupus lupus) is experiencing something of a controversial resurgence in Europe. Wild wolves can be found in small numbers in all but 8 countries of Europe and are a protected species in most. As a large carnivore they are important in maintaining healthy populations of herbivores such as deer. However, among farmers and some of the general population wolves will never be a welcome addition to local wildlife. Photographed in Gramat Animal Park, France. | |
