Reconstruction of a female Homo heidelbergensis hominid based on the Steinheim skull found in Steinheim an der Murr, Germany in 1933. The skull has been dated to between 250, 000 and 350, 000 years old. It has characteristics of both H. heidelbergensis and Neanderthals and so is thought to be a transitional form between the two. | |
