This sagittal (from the side) T1 weighted image without contrast of the lumbar spine demonstrates diffusely abnormal low T1 marrow signal intensity. This represents diffuse infiltration with lymphoma. Also seen is subtle but increased signal intensity within the lumbar spinal canal. One should see darker CSF (cerebrospinal fluid). This finding represents lymphomatous infiltration of the spinal subarachnoid space (lymphomatous meningitis).
