This is the skull of an 11- or 12-year-old child. Only three primary molars remain on the left side, and the 12-year molars, premolars, and wisdom teeth can be seen in various stages of development. Note that the crowns of the teeth are covered with enamel, and dentin makes up the internal body of each tooth. Root dentin is covered by a hard tissue called cementum. | |
