Axial (cross sectional) brain fMRI obtained while the subject was lip smacking. This task is inherently bilateral in nature and it generates BOLD (blood oxygen level dependent) activation (orange blobs) straddling the central sulcus, predominantly involving the posterior pre-central gyrus and some of the anterior post central gyrus. frgi = inferior frontal gyrus, precs = pre-central sulcus, precg = pre-central gyrus, ces = central sulcus, pocs = post-central sulcus, pocg = post-central gyrus, smg = supramarginal gyrus, ips = intra-parietal sulcus, spl = superior parietal lobule, ang = angular gyrus, frgs = superior frontal gyrus, sbps = subparietal sulcus |
