This oblique (angled) sagittal (from the side) contrast enhanced T1 weighted MR image shows a very large developmental venous anomaly (DVA) in the cerebellum. Developmental venous anomalies are extreme variations in venous drainage patterns and are not vascular malformations. They can be associated with cavernous malformations. These anomalies of venous drainage should not be removed because they drain normal brain territory and removal would result in venous infarction. | |
