This experiment was launched to the International Space Station (ISS) on 10 January 2015, on the SpaceX CRS-5 launch. More than a hundred flies were aboard the space station for a period of up to 30 days. Experiments aboard the space station examined how the lack of gravity and other aspects of the space environment affect these insects and their diseases, providing information that is relevant to human health.
