Friedrich Franz Friedmann (1876 - 1953) was a German tuberculosis researcher. He came to New York City in 1913 and set up a clinic administering what he called the turtle vaccine. He claimed to have developed a strain of tuberculosis capable of providing immunity, by passing the disease organism through turtles. The New York City Board of Health rejected his claims and the clinic was closed. | |
