Paranthropus robustus. Illustration and reconstruction of the extinct hominin Paranthropus robustus, also known as Australopithecus robustus. It lived between 2 and 1.2 million years ago. The original fossils were discovered in southern Africa in 1938. This hominin forms part of the human evolutionary fossil record. This reconstruction is based on the fossil skull DNH 7 ('Eurydice') that was discovered in 1994 in Gauteng, South Africa. It dates to between 1.5 and 2 million years ago. | |
