Villous colon polyp, light micrograph. This specimen shows tissue from a villous adenoma, a rare form of colon polyp. These adenomas consist of villous components, rather than the tubular or mixed components of other colon polyps. This specimen shows long, finger-like villous processes, lined by columnar epithelium with low-grade dysplasia. Colon polyps can turn cancerous. Haematoxylin and eosin stain.
