Iluustration of Neptune seen from the orbit of its moon, Nereid. Little is known about this small satellite aside from details of its orbit, size and spin. It measures roughly 340 km across, though it is irregularly shaped, orbits Neptune in 360 days, and spins once on its axis in 11.59 hours. It was discovered in 1949 by Gerard Kuiper, of Kuiper-belt fame. | |
