Kathryn D. Sullivan, US astronaut. Kathryn D. Sullivan (born 1951), American geologist and crew member on three Space Shuttle missions, was the first woman to perform extra-vehicular activity (EVA) during Space Shuttle Challenger mission STS-41-G on October 11, 1984. She was a crew member of mission STS-31, when the Hubble Space Telescope was deployed. She has since worked at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). | |
