3D printed bone implants. 3D printed bone implant after production. This implant (centre 3 pieces) will be used to replace the damaged section of a patient's fractured tibia (shinbone). 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, creates objects by the successive addition of layers of material. Here, each 3D printed implant is constructed from bioceramic powder and custom made to fit each customer. Here, the whole bone has been printed in order to assist with the implant's insertion during surgery. Photographed at OsseoMatrix, France. | |
