Necrotic toes in diabetes in an 83-year-old woman. Diabetics often develop ulcers on the feet due to inadequate blood supply or neuropathy (nerve damage) caused by the disease. In severe cases, the ulcers can become necrotic (tissue death) and gangrenous necessitating removal of the affected region if further treatments fail. This patient has type 2 diabetes. | |
