Hydrochloric acid fumes. When concentrated sulfuric acid is added to a beaker containing salt crystals (sodium chloride) the reaction produces the hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas. As the colourless gas combines with atmospheric water vapour, misty fumes of hydrochloric acid are formed. | |
