Frank Wilczek (born 1951), US theoretical physicist, giving a lecture. Wilczek studied mathematics at the University of Chicago and Princeton University before gaining a PhD in physics in 1974, also from Princeton. In 1973, while still a graduate student working with David Gross, Wilczek discovered asymptotic freedom in quarks. In 2004 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery, along with David Gross and H. David Politzer.
