Prehistoric alabaster figurine. Standing figurine carved in semi-translucent white alabaster. Discovered at the Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni in Malta, this figurine has its left arm crossed over the abdomen whilst the right arm hangs down. Alabaster is not indigenous to the Maltese islands and must have been imported. The Hal-Saflieni site dates from around 2500 BC. Photographed at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta, Malta. | |
