Ruins at the Ggantija temple complex on the island of Gozo, Malta. The two Ggantija temples were built during the Neolithic (around 3600-2500 BC), which makes these temples more than 5500 years old and among the world's oldest man-made religious structures. The temples were possibly the site of an Earth Mother goddess fertility cult. The Ggantija temples were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. Photographed in 2009. | |
