Sergei Sergeevich Chetverikov (1880-1959), Russian geneticist. Chetverikov's research pioneered population genetics, making a vital contribution to the modern synthesis of evolutionary theory. However, his 1926 work was only published in Russian and the significance of his work was not realised until much later. Chetverikov worked at the Nikolai Koltsov Institute of Experimental Biology in Moscow. After five years of exile in Yekaterinburg (starting in 1929), he led the department of genetics at Gorky University. | |
