Louise Pearce (1885-1959), US pathologist and physician. Pearce carried out research on sleeping sickness (trypanosomiasis). She trained at Stanford University (graduating in 1907) and Johns Hopkins University (medical degree in 1912). She then worked at the Rockefeller Institute, and was president of the Women's Medical College in Philadelphia from 1946 to 1951. She received honorary doctorates from Wilson College (1947), Beaver College (1948), Bucknell University (1950), Skidmore (1950), and Women's Medical College in Philadelphia (1952). | |
