Homalodotherium, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal was a type of hoofed animal classed as a notoungulate. It lived in South America from around 16 to 15 million years ago, during the Middle Miocene. It reached body lengths of around 2 metres, and is thought to have been able to walk on its hind legs and feed from high-up tree branches. Its fossils have been found in Argentina and Chile. | |
