Uintatherium, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal was herbivorous, feeding on vegetation. An adult and its young are shown here. An example of an ungulate, Uintatherium lived during the Eocene, from 45 to 37 million years ago. It reached a body length of around 4 metres, and was similar to today's rhinoceroses. Its fossils are found in North America and China. | |
