Prehistoric cave bear (Ursus spelaeus), illustration. Many fossils of this extinct prehistoric mammal are found in the caves it inhabited during the ice ages. It lived from around 250, 000 to 27, 000 years ago, during the Middle to Late Pleistocene. Their diet may have been largely herbivorous, with some meat consumption. The larger males reached lengths of over 3 metres. Its fossils have been found in Europe and Asia. | |
