Borhyaena, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal was a bear-like metatherian (marsupial). Its fossils are found in Patagonia in South America. It lived between 17 and 15 million years ago during the Early Miocene. A powerful predator, it was similar in appearance to hyenas. It stood around 50 centimetres tall at the shoulder. | |
