Mylodon, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal is a ground sloth, known from fossils found in Patagonia in South America. It is thought to have been the last ground sloth species, existing from the Late Pleistocene (around 780, 000 years ago) and going extinct around 5000 years ago. It was around 3 metres long, and had long, sharp claws. | |
