Tesla oscillator-transformer in action, generating electrical waves. This device was presented to the British Association by Lord Kelvin in August 1897. It was designed by Serb-US physicist and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). Tesla's initial work took place in the 1880s and 1890s. Tesla's research led to key advances in areas such as alternating current power generation and transmission. A type of transformer is named for him (the Tesla Coil), as is the SI unit of magnetic flux density. | |
