Brain cancer radiotherapy. 70-year-old woman with a malignant brain tumour (cancer) undergoing radiotherapy with a linear accelerator X-ray machine in a hospital. She has been positioned below a linear accelerator (LINAC) that emits high-energy X-ray radiation that is focused on the tumour site, and used to disrupt and kill the cancer cells. The patient is wearing a rigid radiotherapy mask that is custom-made to hold the patient's head in position while the treatment is carried out. Markings and guide lasers (green) help position the patient and direct the radiation. Photographed in the UK.
