Tuff canyon. This steep-sided gorge has been formed by the downward erosion of lava deposits by a river which ran through the dried up bed in the valley bottom. The landscape of tuff or tuffstone was formed by the accumulation and compaction of volcanic ash following a volcanic eruption. Photographed in Big Bend National Park, Texas, USA. | |
