SS Leviathan. Historical illustration showing the internal layout of the SS Leviathan, an ocean liner built in 1913 in Germany. Originally called the Vaterland, she sailed the Atlantic for less than a year before the start of World War I. In 1917 she was seized by the U.S. government and renamed Leviathan. She was used as a troop ship during the war and later as the flagship of the United States Lines. She was sold for scrap and broken up in 1938. | |
