Lynx. Lynx (Felis or Lynx lynx) chasing a hare (Lepus sp.) across a snowfield. Lynx live in forests in eastern Europe and Asia, and also in the northern parts of North America. They are mainly nocturnal, and eat hares, rabbits, deer and birds. They are known for the long black tufts on each of their ears, which aid their ability to locate sounds. They also have large furry paws which help spread their body weight over the snow. They are solitary animals, meeting only during the breeding season. They inhabit territories which may cover up to 100 square kilometres where prey is scarce. Lynx can reach over a metre in length. Photographed in Montana,USA | |
