Grey wolves. Five grey wolves (Canis lupus) in snow. Grey wolves live in packs of five to 15 individuals. They are found throughout the northern regions of the world, and further south in Asia. The pack is led by a dominant couple. Wolves are coursers, that is,they run for hours while hunting. They have been known to cover 60 kilometres in a day. As a pack, they hunt large mammals such as deer, elk, bison and mountain sheep. These animals are too large to be tackled by an individual wolf. They also threaten domesticated animals, which has led to their persecution in some areas | |
