Brown bear (Ursus arctos) mother and 2-year-old cubs in a late spring (May) snow storm in Wyoming,USA. Brown bears have an average of two cubs in a litter. The cubs will stay with their mother for 2-3 years,and should live for 15-20 years. Brown bears are mainly vegetarian,though they will also eat meat,especially after winter hibernation when they scavenge on animals killed by the cold. Brown bears in North America are also called grizzly bears. They can be 2 metres tall and weigh over 300 kilograms.
