Grizzly bear footprints. Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) footprints in snow. The grizzly bear is a large carnivore which inhabits northern areas of Eurasia and western North America. Although it is a carnivore, its diet consists mainly of vegetation. However,it does seem to prefer flesh when it is available. As well as large mammals, grizzly bears may fish for salmon in rivers. They are solitary animals, although cubs usually accompany their mother until they are over a year old. Photographed in Denali National Park,Alaska. USA | |
