Mountain gorilla (Gorilla gorilla beringei) silverback male feeding. The mountain gorilla lives in cloud forest on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes between Rwanda,Uganda and Zaire. Mountain gorillas have longer hair,larger jaws and shorter arms than lowland gorillas. Mature males develop a patch of silver-grey hair on their backs. Their diet consists mainly of roots,leaves and stems,supplemented by occasional fruit,fungi,and invertebrates. They can reach over two metres in height.
